Visual SourceSafe Alternative Now Available -- Dynamsoft SourceAnywhere(TM) Standalone 2.0 Released

Software Configuration Management Provider Delivers Superior Scalability, Reliability and Painless Migration From VSS

VANCOUVER, BC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/20/07 -- Dynamsoft(TM) Corporation today announced the release of Dynamsoft SourceAnywhere(TM) Standalone 2.0, a replacement for Visual SourceSafe.

Version control tools have become the cornerstone of virtually all development teams. One popular tool, VSS, is used by thousands of Windows developers all around the world. Primarily designed for small teams working in LAN environments, VSS has many issues as teams expand or get geographically distributed. Key areas of concern for development teams include performance, remote access and repository security and reliability -- these issues force development teams to seek alternatives to VSS.

Dynamsoft addresses the needs of these developers with the new SourceAnywhere Standalone 2.0. At a surface level, Dynamsoft SourceAnywhere Standalone has a GUI similar to VSS. However, SourceAnywhere Standalone is based on SQL-Server and is designed for developer teams who require better performance, security, scalability and reliability.

With a wide range of team sizes in mind, Dynamsoft SourceAnywhere Standalone scales as developer teams grow. Additionally, a sophisticated cache mechanism is incorporated to reduce the server workload, which lowers hard disk operations and SQL Server requests.

Dynamsoft SourceAnywhere Standalone is optimized for both LAN and remote users with many technologies contributing to faster remote access performance. SSL encryption and Password Policy are also used to protect data and passwords.

The new release also features a Java client for cross-platform development and the flexibility of IDE (Integrated Development Environment) clients suitable for use in a variety of development environments including Visual Studio, Visual Studio .NET, Macromedia Studio, Eclipse plug-in, as well as Borland Delphi 8.0 IDE, IBM Rational Rapid Developer 2003 IDE and any MSSCCI (Microsoft® Source Code Control Interface) compatible IDE.

Dynamsoft also provides a VSS import tool to make data migration from VSS incredibly painless.
